The jewellery art and profession is a profession that requires great care and creativity. Since the main material of this art is gold, it is processed very carefully and does not accept loss. Jewellery business is a process that starts from small ages and lasts from assistant master to master. It is a profession that requires a good relationship between master and apprentice, and a specific learning process.

Jewellery business is the art of shaping the gold with various techniques and tools, and decorating it with precious stones. Those, who will perform this work, first design and draw the jewelleries to be produced. Depending on the material to be made, silver, platinum, copper or nickel is added to the gold to obtain the desired alloy. This alloy is melted and poured into moulds. After leaving the mould, the designed processes are applied with various suitable techniques. Then, their upper parts are cleaned with the applications of trimming, polishing and chemical paint.
In the field of jewellery business, various hand tools as well as technological tools are used for the production. Nowadays, with the technology developed in the field of jewellery, it is possible to produce more series with computers and various technological devices. But handwork has always been the preferred technique. Tools include small hand tools such as pincers, files, scissors, hammer, chisel fretsaw, abrasive, crampons, and anvil as well as large tools such as motor tools, melting ovens, vacuum casting ovens, annealing and enamel ovens, laser machine, polishing motor.
Jewellery business is a branch that requires creativity and skill. For the jeweller’s master, using hands and giving importance to details are the main required specialities. Jewellery training is provided in Anatolian Vocational High School and Industrial Vocational High School.
Turkish jewellers have been well developed in the production of finished gold and jewellery in recent years, and Turkey became world-renowned and is ranked as the second country in export after Italy. In recent years, jewellery industry in Turkey have benefited from technological developments, passing to the fabrication production. In addition, the training of people working in this sector has been given importance and it has been ensured that they follow the developments in the world. Developments and fashion in the world of jewellery are being followed and new markets are sought. The Turkish jewellery industry now exports to about 136 countries and increases the quality and variety of its products. They have also succeeded worldwide by creating their own brands.
